Convertiverse is here.
This often overlooked asset class can teach us a lot about investing and, more broadly, provides the basis for a great understanding of capital structure. Convertible bond investors must be au fait with credit, equities and derivatives in order to arrive at an overall understanding of the securities.
I have often felt - especially when spending time with interns on the desk - that there are not many dedicated resources to learn about converts. There are the Calamos books and guides to CB Arbitrage/options pricing tombs, but lets face it, they’re a little dense.
My ambitions with Convertiverse are:
to produce a podcast that gives an insight into life as convertible bond fund managers, as investors more broadly, and by interviewing others, provide several viewpoints on the asset class and the kind of characters that work within the space;
to act as a resource for understanding the basics of convertible bonds - pricing, terminology, benefits vs. fixed income or equities;
hopefully provide an entertaining blog, providing insight into life in CBs.
